Ignite Technologies

Are you an ex-management consultant whose favorite parts of your role were client development and delivering the presentation of the final business case?

In your consulting or strategy roles did you spend material time in the areas of organizational transformation and change?

Do you excel at compelling the client to initiate strategic change on the heels of your recommendations?

Do you energize those with whom you build relationships and to whom you present?

Are you excited to work across industries and customer contexts rather than be only deep in a single domain?

Do you have a pedigreed educational background and top 10 MBA, but operate both internally and externally with true humility?

If yes, this opportunity is for you.

The Opportunity

The Vice President of Customer Strategy & Insight is a truly unique strategy and sales executive role at a dynamic and growing enterprise software company that is helping its customers transform the way they do business.  The role is ideally suited for a management consulting experienced executive who can create and evangelize a compelling business case and solution value proposition within a set of strategic account relationships.  The role is a new one for the company, reporting directly to Ignite’s CEO.  The role has direct accountability for leading the crafting and evangelizing of a compelling business case for the solutions it sells to its largest and most strategic customers -- companies like Johnson & Johnson, Bank of America, McDonald’s, IBM, Charles Schwab, and others of the same size and brand recognition.

Success in the role is defined by the achievement of significant growth in our strategic customer relationships where the growth is enabled in large part by, and in direct proportion to, the business case defined.  At Ignite, we talk about helping customers “ignite the power of their workforce to ignite better business performance”.  The executive hired into this unique role will contribute directly to that mission, creating higher levels of success for an impressive list of well-respected businesses.

The Role

The VP of Customer Strategy & Insight is responsible for leading development of business cases for a collection of Ignite’s “Gold” accounts, which are its largest and most important customer relationships.  Acting as a leader on three to five strategic account teams, the VP of Customer Strategy & Insight will partner with a strategic account sales executive and Ignite’s product leadership team to build a business case for solutions we create and collaboratively design with strategic customers.  Working with cross-functional groups within Ignite (Product Management, Sales, Presales, Engineering, and Professional Services), the VP of Customer Strategy & Insight will lead the organization in developing compelling business value roadmaps that aligns Ignite’s offerings with the customer’s needs to transform their business.

This role entails in-person visits with business leaders at all levels and therefore demands a level of professionalism only attainable through a background that is densely saturated with high profile management consulting, large enterprise software, or services sales and leadership experiences. Expected travel ranges between 10-20%.  Ignite’s current Gold accounts are headquartered in the U.S., but all are global organizations.  Ignite’s future Gold accounts are projected to be in the U.S. and in Europe as Ignite expands its business.

If successful, the executive in this role will be well-positioned for career growth into an anticipated SVP role accountable for building a high-end business value function that institutionalize the VP Customer Strategy & Insight capability within a broader number of strategic accounts.

The Person

The ideal Vice President of Customer Strategy & Insight is a naturally curious, consultative business executive who has extensive experience creating value for senior executives by bringing technology and service solutions to bear on their most complex problems. He/she understands the power of technology to create transformative change, and invests a great deal of time understanding the key drivers of value for a particular business in order to present to senior executives about how the technology-enabled change can unlock value. The ideal VP of Customer Strategy & Insight combines team leadership experience with a willingness and capability to roll-up his/her sleeves. In addition, and maybe most importantly, the VP of Customer Strategy & Insight can personally inspire confidence in senior executives through his/her logical and positive presentation of a business case that reflects a quickly learned understanding of the customer’s business.

Though management consulting experience with a specific firm is not required, Ignite’s CEO has a tremendous amount of respect for the talent assembled by top management consulting firms and feels that the type of experience one gains in an Associate Principal or Principal type of position in such firms would be highly relevant to this role.

The Company

Ignite helps companies like Bank of America, Johnson & Johnson, and McDonald’s perform at higher levels by deploying best-in-class enterprise software solutions created from a growing stable of enterprise software applications -- growing through both core investment in innovation as well as through aggressive acquisition. Ignite’s mantra of 100% Customer Success is delivered through a highly disciplined approach to customer-focused software development and service. Ignite delivers its work through a group of goal-oriented, self-starting individuals. Ignite’s innovative, virtual, global work environment along with its aggressive growth through acquisition allows these associates to experience an extraordinary level of professional freedom, growth and development.
