Social Compliance Consultants give training and consultancy services to clients in the whole value chain of textile and clothing industry. Their responsibilities include supporting the industry players to increase their readiness and maturity in social compliance in line with the national laws, purchasing practices and Code of Conduct policies of buyers, and international standards. The person will be offered training opportunities such as auditor trainings, as and when relevant.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct trainings to clients on the standard social compliance content of DDM
- Customize the standard training content according to client’s requirements as and when necessary
- Give consultancy services to clients including
- supporting them in building internal capacity for social compliance
- assessing the company from an auditor perspective and reporting
- developing a corrective action plan and aligning with client on periodic checkpoints
- preparing them for buyer audits
- supporting them to acquire the relevant certifications (including, but not limited to SLCP, Sedex, Higg, etc.)
- Build strong client relationships to respond to their needs and requirements
- Contact potential clients to create business opportunities and develop service proposals
- Maintaining communication with buyers and brand representatives
- Delivering timely and accurate reports to DDM
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or higher degree relevant to the assignment (i.e. social sciences, textile engineer, environmental/chemical engineer, international trade, or related discipline.)
- Very good command of English (speaking, reading, and writing)
- Full computer literacy
- Familiarity with social compliance programs like Amfori BSCI, SMETA, SLCP, and related certifications
- Knowledge on buyers’ purchasing practices, social compliance, quality assurance, and code of conduct requirements
- Capacity and curiosity to follow local and international labor laws and health and safety regulations
- Interest in a career in social and environmental auditing
- Certified APSCA RA / CSCA Auditor status, ISO 9001/45001 certification, or lead auditor certification by accredited international auditing company is an asset
- Good interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills.
- Willing to travel in the region and work on the production floor when needed.
- Skills in project management, stakeholder management and reporting
Professional Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of general professional experience
- Minimum 2 years of specific professional experience in social compliance and/or CSR within a manufacturing company, buyer office, or 3rd party auditor; preferably in textiles and clothing
