    The Vice President of Technical Product Management excels at:

    • Defining data structures and object models
    • Creating algorithms to solve high-value problems
    • Mapping solutions to large “building blocks” of existing open source components and cloud services
    • Making decisions that reduce scope in favor of simplicity
    • Clear written communication
    • Leading and managing a team

    Unfortunately, most companies do a terrible job at this. They do not do the hard work up front, and they start coding too early. They don’t invest in developing expertise and innovation. They build roadmaps based on what competitors are already delivering or on the tactical needs of the sales team. Their technical product managers focus on UIs and mockups instead of the product’s core data structures and algorithms.

    For the Vice President of Technical Product Management position, you have likely been a Technical Co-Founder of a smaller company or a Senior Architect at a large software company such as Microsoft, Google, IBM, or Oracle.

    Our Technical Product Management roles are much more technical than what most companies call “Product Management” so traditional “product management” experience is not a requirement.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Every member of the Technical Product Management team goes through an initial 30-day training session to learn how we do Product Management at Crossover, how we structure our specifications, and how we measure the quality of the resulting documentation

    You will learn valuable techniques to interview subject matter experts; eliciting, distilling and documenting the Important Technical Decisions at a product’s core. You will learn techniques to simplify product architectures to expose the fundamental patterns. You will learn to create playbooks on when and how to apply technology design patterns. Moreover, you will get daily feedback to accelerate learning and growth far beyond typical classrooms or training programs

    CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

    Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electronic/Electrical Engineering is mandatory, (M.Sc. or Ph.D. preferred)

    5+ years of hands-on production code development in Java or C# on a commercial software product or end-user software supporting a service offering?

    3+ years experience in a leadership position in Application Architecture, Software Engineering, or Technical Product

    Management taking product requirements, making the core technical design decisions, and creating detailed specifications for a team of developers to code and test

    Able to identify and articulate patterns in unstructured and unorganized content

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills including architecture diagrams, data flows, and system component diagrams
